Trust is such a powerful word that should not be taken lightly. It is the foundation for any successful personal or professional relationship. In the field of Emergency Response, having trust in the people you work with is a must for an effective and successful team. In order to build trust, it takes the demonstration of attributes such as accountability and integrity. It takes consistency in demonstrating those traits and even when you faulter, as all humans do, it's taking responsibility for mistakes. Demonstrating to yourself and those around you, that making a mistake is inevitable, it's what you do after making the mistake.

These actions contribute to building a safe environment for the team to hold themselves and each other accountable. Doing that consistently, will most certainly gain trust.
